Ahead 2027: Gov Sule under pressure to contest Senate seat in Nasarawa
By David Odama
Governor Abdullah Sule of Nasarawa is currently under pressure to vie for the Nasarawa North senatorial seat ahead of 2027.
This is just the Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nassarawa Eggon Local Government Area of Nasarawa State have declared their full support for Governor Abdullahi Sule to contest the Nasarawa North Senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement which was made during a stakeholders’ meeting at Nasarawa Eggon town, is the latest in a series of coordinated arrangements by party loyalists across the senatorial zone to mount pressure on the governor to join the race.
The Commissioner for Water Resources and Rural Development, Mohamed Agah Muluku, who led the call, described Governor Sule as an exceptional leader whose contributions to the development of the State should not be allowed to end with his tenure as Governor.
The Executive Chairman of Nassarawa Eggon LGA, Iliya Ibn-Aliyu, echoed the sentiments, urging party members to remain united and strategic in their efforts.
He urged the members of the APC within his domain to remain loyal and present a united front heading to the 2027 general elections. According to him, this will place the Local Government Area in a better position to benefit from the dividends of democracy.
Also speaking, Dr. Justina Anjiode-Kotso, a Special Adviser to the Governor called the move to draft the Governor into the senatorial race a form of civic duty.
Dr. Daniel Ewuga Asele, also a Special Adviser to the Governor, said Sule’s track record makes him the ideal candidate for the Senate seat.
Dr. Esther Sam Alu, the APC Zonal Women Leader for North Central, urged party faithful across the zone to throw their weight behind the Governor.
Though Governor Sule, had in the past publicly, declared that he was not interested in a senatorial bid after completing his term in office, the recent wave of endorsements from stakeholders across the three Local Government Areas of Nasarawa North, Wamba, Akwanga, and now Nassarawa Eggon, is seen as a calculated effort to convince him to reconsider
