Anglican Primate Seeks Prosecution of Insecurity Sponsors

President Bola Tinubu has been called upon to demonstrate the political will needed to arrest and prosecute individuals allegedly sponsoring banditry and other forms of insecurity across the country.

The Primate of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Most Reverend Henry Ndukuba, made the appeal during a Thanksgiving service marking the 36th anniversary of the Anglican Diocese of Abuja. He stressed that the time had come for those behind criminal activities to be exposed and held accountable.

Most Reverend Ndukuba claimed that some political elites and traditional rulers hire individuals for personal gain, contributing to the ongoing kidnappings, killings, and other violent crimes nationwide.

He argued that establishing state police would not resolve the security challenges, warning that state authorities might exploit such institutions for selfish objectives.

“When those who are sponsoring insecurity in our land are dealt with, if the courts of Nigeria cannot handle them, let them be taken to the International Criminal Court in The Hague,” he said.

The Primate reaffirmed the Church’s commitment to continual prayers but emphasized that genuine love for citizens and collective effort—especially from those in leadership—are essential to ending acts he described as ungodly.

He reminded the congregation of the importance of drawing closer to God and preaching the gospel to unbelievers, assuring that divine transformation would come to the nation when its people live according to God’s will.
