A civil society group, Arise O Compatriots Initiative, has called for the immediate removal of Engr. Abdulahi Sule as Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), describing his continued occupation of the office as “illegal and unconstitutional.

The group made the demand in a press statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja, ahead of a World Press Conference scheduled for Thursday, 16th April, 2026, at Novare Centre, Wuse.

According to the Convener of the Initiative, Comrade Taiwo Adeniran, Engr. Sule has been unable to authenticate his reappointment with any formal letter from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“Our position is clear,” Adeniran stated. “In the absence of a formal reappointment letter duly signed by Mr. President, Engr. Abdulahi Sule lacks the legal authority to continue occupying the position of MD/CEO of TCN. His continued stay in office is therefore illegal, unconstitutional, and a violation of due process.”

The Arise O Compatriots Initiative argues that allowing unelected or improperly appointed officials to remain in critical public offices undermines the rule of law and erodes public trust in government institutions. The group said the situation at TCN is particularly concerning given the company’s strategic role in Nigeria’s power sector.

“This is a clarion call for his immediate removal to uphold the rule of law, restore institutional integrity at TCN, and protect public trust in government appointments,” the statement read.

The Initiative has invited members of the press to its World Press Conference slated for 10:00 AM on Thursday, 16th April, 2026, at Novare Centre, Wuse, Abuja, where it promised to present further details and respond to questions from journalists.
