The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has felicitated with Muslims across the country on the occasion of this year’s Eid-El-Kabir celebration, urging sustained prayers, unity and support for the poor and vulnerable in society.
In a special Sallah message signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Malam Ismail Mudashir, Senator Barau called on Muslims and all Nigerians to use the occasion to pray for peace, unity and the continued progress of the country.
Senator Barau, who also serves as the First Deputy Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament, congratulated Nigerian pilgrims currently performing the Hajj in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and urged them to remember Nigeria and its leaders in their prayers at the holy sites.
He appealed to the pilgrims to pray for enduring peace, stability and prosperity in the country, stressing that prayers offered during such a sacred period are invaluable to national development.
The Deputy Senate President also urged Nigerians to continue supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that the President remains committed to tackling the nation’s challenges and improving the wellbeing of citizens.
“I wish Muslims, and indeed all Nigerians, a peaceful and memorable Eid-El-Kabir. This season reminds us of total submission to the will of Allah, as demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim. True believers must uphold the values of sacrifice, obedience, tolerance, justice and charity.
“In the spirit of this season, let us extend a hand of support to the poor and needy around us, and regardless of our differences, recommit ourselves to building a united, peaceful and economically strong nation.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has continued to demonstrate leadership and commitment towards addressing the challenges facing our country. With sustained efforts and the support of all Nigerians, we are confident that the nation will achieve greater stability and prosperity. Eid Mubarak!” he said.
