“We are not just flying aircraft; we are connecting dreams, opportunities and people.” – Aminatu Dahiru Chiroma, Group President, BINANI AIR

INTRODUCTION

Thirty days after its inaugural commercial flight, BINANI AIR is reflecting on what its leadership describes as a defining early milestone in its journey to reshape domestic aviation in Nigeria.

In a sector known for high operational demands and intense competition, the new carrier says its focus has remained anchored on safety, reliability, and customer experience.

From its first takeoff to its growing passenger base, the airline’s leadership insists that the first month has been less about celebration and more about consolidation—building systems, earning trust, and delivering consistent service.

In this exclusive interview, Group President Aminatu Dahiru Chiroma speaks on the airline’s early performance, operational challenges, passenger response, and the vision guiding its expansion.

Q1: Thirty days may be a short period, but it is a major milestone for a new airline. How would you describe BINANI AIR’s first month?

Chiroma: The first thirty days have been both humbling and inspiring. When people see an aircraft take off, they see the final product. What they do not see are years of planning, regulatory compliance, investment, training, and preparation.

For us, these thirty days represent far more than flights operated. They represent the realization of a vision that existed long before the first aircraft touched the runway.
We are encouraged by the positive reception from passengers, partners, and stakeholders. Every safe landing and satisfied customer reinforces our belief that we are on the right path.
Above all, we remain committed to safety, professionalism, and service excellence.

Q2: What has been your most memorable moment so far?

Chiroma: It was the inaugural flight.
Seeing passengers board with expectations, emotions, and trust was deeply moving. Some were reuniting with families, others traveling for business, and others simply experiencing a new level of convenience.

When they disembarked smiling, it reaffirmed something important: aviation is not just about movement—it is about people, connections, and possibilities.

Q3: What were the major challenges of launching operations in Nigeria?

Chiroma: Nigeria offers significant opportunities, but aviation here demands strict discipline. It is capital-intensive, heavily regulated, and unforgiving of error.

Our biggest task was ensuring full compliance with every regulatory and operational requirement before launch—certifications, training, infrastructure readiness, technical systems, and safety protocols.

We did not see these as obstacles but as foundations. Our guiding principle has been simple: build correctly, build responsibly, and build sustainably.

Q4: The issuance of your Air Operator Certificate brought attention to Senator Aishatu Binani. What has been her role in the airline’s early progress?

Chiroma: Building an airline anywhere is a major undertaking. In Nigeria, it requires even greater resilience and vision.
Senator Aishatu Dahiru Binani, the Chairperson and Founder, has been central to this journey. From the outset, she demonstrated unwavering belief in the project and its long-term potential.

Her leadership provided direction at critical moments. She consistently encouraged bold thinking while insisting on safety, compliance, and sustainability.

This early milestone reflects her vision and determination to establish an airline Nigerians can trust.
I also wish to acknowledge the support of our father, Ahmed Dahiru, whose prayers and encouragement have been a source of strength throughout this journey.

Q5: What feedback are you receiving from passengers?

Chiroma: The feedback has been largely positive. Passengers have praised our professionalism, customer service, and overall travel experience.

What is particularly encouraging is that passengers are becoming ambassadors for the brand—sharing their experiences organically with others.
That kind of trust is not manufactured; it is earned.
We are, however, committed to continuous improvement as expectations evolve.

Q6: What sets BINANI AIR apart from other airlines?

Chiroma: We respect every operator in the industry. Each plays a role in advancing Nigerian aviation.
What differentiates us is our philosophy: people first.

We are building an airline where every decision prioritizes the passenger experience. Efficiency, growth, and profitability matter—but never at the expense of service quality and human connection.
We are not just selling tickets. We are delivering trust, care, and reliability.

Q7: How central is safety to your operations?

Chiroma: Safety is not a department in aviation—it is the entire system.
Every decision begins and ends with safety considerations. From operations to maintenance, training to scheduling, everything is guided by strict standards.

We continuously train our personnel and adhere to global best practices.
Passengers entrust us with their lives. We treat that responsibility with absolute seriousness.

Q8: How does BINANI AIR contribute to national connectivity?

Chiroma: Connectivity drives economic growth. When people can move efficiently, economies expand.
Air travel connects businesses, families, and opportunities. It strengthens commerce and encourages investment.

We see ourselves as a connector—linking cities, people, and possibilities across Nigeria.
Q9: What has this first month taught you personally?

Chiroma: That people are the most critical factor in success.
Aircraft, systems, and infrastructure are essential, but it is people—pilots, engineers, cabin crew, and support staff—who make everything work.
Their commitment has been remarkable, and it reinforces the importance of teamwork and shared vision.

Q10: What message do you have for your staff?

Chiroma: My deepest appreciation goes to every member of the BINANI AIR team.

Every role, whether visible or behind the scenes, has contributed to this milestone.
This is not the destination—it is only the beginning. Greater expectations lie ahead, but I am confident in our collective ability to meet them.

Q11: What should passengers expect going forward?

Chiroma: We will continue strengthening reliability, improving customer experience, and expanding responsibly.

We will listen more closely to passengers and invest in our people because service excellence begins with empowered teams.
Our goal is simple: to build an airline Nigerians trust and are proud of.
The first 30 days are only the beginning of a much longer journey.

CONCLUSION

“Thirty days ago, we took off with a vision. Today, we reflect on progress. Tomorrow, we continue building.”

BINANI AIR says its story is still unfolding—but its ambition is already clear: to become a symbol of reliability, safety, and customer-centred aviation in Nigeria. :::
