Former Nigerian leaders on Friday night paid glowing tributes to the late Professor Jonah Isawa Elaigwu, a distinguished political scientist and former political adviser to ex-President Ibrahim Babangida, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to national development and leadership.

Prof. Elaigwu, celebrated globally as an authority on federalism, was regarded as one of Nigeria’s foremost scholars in the study and practice of federal governance.

Widely described as a “national intellectual treasure,” he served as the President of the Institute of Governance and Social Research (IGSR) and was a Professor Emeritus of Political Science at the University of Jos until his passing.

The tribute event, held in Abuja on Friday night, brought together prominent national figures, including former Heads of State General Yakubu Gowon, General Ibrahim Babangida, and General Abdulsalami Abubakar.

Also in attendance were former Senate President David Mark, former Bauchi State Governor Alhaji Ahmadu Adamu Mu’azu, and former PDP National Chairman Senator Iyorchia Ayu, among other distinguished dignitaries, who all gathered to honor the life and legacy of the eminent scholar.
