The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Barr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, has issued a stern warning to ground rent defaulters in Abuja, declaring that no further extension will be granted on the payment deadline.

According to him, those who fail to comply risk losing ownership of their properties, as the FCT Administration will seal the affected premises and repossess them.

Wike made this known during an inspection tour of ongoing infrastructure projects in the Wuse and Lifecamp districts of the FCT.

He stressed that both the two-week and the Presidential grace periods given to defaulters four months earlier had elapsed, making this the final chance for outstanding payments to be settled.

The FCT Administration had earlier announced that enforcement actions—targeting both ground rent defaulters and individuals who acquired properties without completing registration and consent procedures—would commence on November 26, 2025.

Providing updates on key infrastructure developments, the Minister highlighted progress on the Transit Way N2 and Arterial Road N5, expressing satisfaction with the pace and standard of the ongoing work.
