Pastor Babagbemi Joseph Adejola has congratulated Nigerians on the occasion of Democracy Day, urging leaders at all levels to intensify efforts toward delivering the dividends of democracy to citizens.

Babagbemi made the call in a statement on Friday while felicitating Nigerians on the country’s 27 years of uninterrupted democratic governance.

He described June 12 as a significant milestone in Nigeria’s democratic journey, noting that the day symbolises the resilience, sacrifices and aspirations of Nigerians for a better nation.

According to him, while there is every reason to celebrate the progress recorded since the return to democratic rule, more work remains to be done to strengthen institutions, promote good governance and improve the welfare of the people.

“Democracy Day provides an opportunity for us to reflect on our collective journey as a nation. It is a time to celebrate our achievements and honour those who fought for democratic governance.

“However, as we celebrate this milestone, we must also acknowledge that there is still room for improvement in the areas of security, economic development, infrastructure, youth empowerment and social justice,” he said.

Babagbemi urged political leaders to remain committed to transparency, accountability and inclusive governance in order to deepen public confidence in democratic institutions.

He also called on citizens to continue supporting democratic processes through active participation, peaceful engagement and adherence to the rule of law.

The politician expressed optimism that Nigeria would overcome its current challenges and emerge stronger through unity, responsible leadership and collective patriotism.

He wished Nigerians a peaceful and memorable Democracy Day celebration and reaffirmed his commitment to the advancement of democratic values and national development.
