EFCC Arrests 20 Over Alleged Electoral Offences in FCT Council Elections
Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested 20 suspects over various electoral offences during the just-concluded Federal Capital Territory (FCT) local government elections.
In a statement issued by the EFCC Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, the Commission disclosed that the suspects were apprehended across the FCT for offences including vote buying, vote selling, and obstruction of electoral officers, involving a total sum of N17,218,700 (Seventeen Million, Two Hundred and Eighteen Thousand, Seven Hundred Naira only).
According to the statement, one of the suspects was arrested with N13,500,000 (Thirteen Million, Five Hundred Thousand Naira) found in a vehicle parked beside a polling unit in the Kwali Local Government Area.
The statement further revealed that two suspects were arrested in Abaji, nine in Gwagwalada, four in Kuje, and another four in Kwali.
The Commission noted that the suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
