The Benue State Coordinator of Renewed Hope Continuity, Evang. Chief Mrs. Blessing Ramatu Okoh, JP, has strongly condemned the recent attacks on Akpachi-Ugboju and Otukpo Nobi communities in Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State, urging security agencies to take immediate steps to end the violence.

In a statement, Okoh referenced eyewitness accounts alleging that the attacks were carried out by suspected Fulani militia. She stated that the first incident occurred on Tuesday in Akpachi-Ugboju, where two residents were reportedly killed. According to her, another attack followed on Wednesday morning in Otukpo Nobi, leaving more than six people dead.
She disclosed that several other victims sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment at the Federal University of Health Sciences Teaching Hospital in Otukpo.
Describing the attacks as “wicked, inhuman and a grave violation of the people’s right to life and peaceful coexistence,” Okoh expressed sympathy to the bereaved families and prayed for the quick recovery of those injured.
She stressed that every citizen deserves to live without fear, adding that the continued killings in Benue South Senatorial District (Zone C) are unacceptable.
Okoh appealed to the Benue State Government, the Federal Government and all security agencies to urgently deploy more security personnel to Otukpo Local Government Area and neighbouring border communities to prevent further attacks. She also called for immediate humanitarian assistance and medical support for the injured and displaced victims.
She noted that the affected communities are largely farming settlements and emphasized that residents should be able to cultivate their farms and return home safely without fear of attack.
The Renewed Hope Continuity coordinator further urged residents to remain calm, stay vigilant and cooperate with security agencies. She reaffirmed her commitment to advocating for the protection of lives, justice for victims and lasting peace across Adoka/Ugboju Constituency, Otukpo Local Government Area and the entire Zone C.
Okoh concluded by praying for God’s protection over the people and asking for leaders who would restore lasting peace and security in the area.
The statement was signed by Evang. Chief Mrs. Blessing Ramatu Okoh, JP, Benue State Coordinator, Renewed Hope Continuity.
