Experience and Capacity: Why Lola Ashiru is Kwara’s Best Choice
By Taiwo Olayemi
As Kwara State gears up for the 2027 gubernatorial elections, the All Progressives Congress (APC) is poised to select a candidate who embodies the values of good governance, progressive ideals, and leadership acumen. Amidst a crowded field of aspirants, one name stands out: Distinguished Senator Lola Ashiru, the current Senate Deputy Leader and Senator representing Kwara South Senatorial District.
Senator Ashiru’s candidature is a compelling choice for several reasons. Firstly, his experience in politics and governance is unparalleled. With over two decades of public service, he has demonstrated a deep understanding of the complexities of governance and a proven track record of delivering results. His tenure as Senate Deputy Leader has showcased his ability to navigate the intricacies of national politics, forge alliances, and advocate for development projects that benefit Kwara State.
Moreover, Senator Ashiru is a stalwart of progressive politics. His commitment to the ideals of good governance, accountability, and inclusive development has remained unwavering, even in the face of adversity. This consistency has earned him the trust and respect of party leaders, grassroots supporters, and stakeholders across the state.
Kwara State needs a leader who can build on the progress made so far and address the emerging challenges facing the state. Senator Ashiru’s leadership style is anchored in peace, stability, and mutual respect, qualities essential for sustaining progress in a pluralistic society like Kwara. He has consistently demonstrated the ability to work with diverse groups, manage differences, and build consensus.
Furthermore, Senator Ashiru has a clear and practical vision for Kwara’s development. His priorities include strengthening security, expanding agricultural productivity, improving education, supporting small and medium-scale enterprises, upgrading infrastructure, enhancing healthcare delivery, and promoting youth employment and entrepreneurship. These are not mere campaign promises, but practical priorities rooted in careful study and real-world understanding of the state’s challenges.
As the APC prepares to select its gubernatorial candidate, it’s essential to recognize that the stakes are high. Kwara State requires leadership that can consolidate achievements, address emerging challenges, and unlock new opportunities for development. Among the aspirants, Senator Yisa Oyelola Ashiru stands tall as the most qualified, most prepared, and most dependable choice.
I urge Kwarans and stakeholders to rally behind Senator Ashiru’s candidature. Together, let’s build a PACT with Kwarans and create a prosperous future for our beloved state.
Kwara deserves tested leadership – and Ashiru is the right person for the job.
