FCT Area Council Election: CG VGN Directs Officers To Compliment Efforts Of Formal Security Agencies To Checkmate Violence

The Commander General of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, VGN, Dr Usman Mohammed Jahun has directed officers and men of the Group in the six Area Councils of the Federal Capital Territory to compliment the efforts of formal security agencies in checkmating any outbreak of violence and breach of public peace that may arise before, during and after the conduct of this Saturday’s FCT Area Council Election.

Dr. Usman Jahun gave the directive while speaking with newsmen in Abuja.

He said the directive became necessary in view of VGN’s objectives in assisting its parental bodies such as the Military, Police, Civil Defence and other Formal Security Agencies in maintaining law and order in the society.

The Commander General of VGN who described security as everybody’s business therefore advised residents of the FCT to report cases of unlawful behaviour to security agencies towards ensuring a hitch free Area Council Election.

Dr. Usman Jahun explained that officers and men of VGN had already been trained on what is expected of them during election to avoid jeopardizing the conduct of the poll.

He used the opportunity to caution youths across the six Area Councils of the FCT against been used by selfish and unpatriotic politicians to cause any problem before, during and after the election.

While urging politicians, political parties and candidates on the election to effectively sensitize their supporters on peaceful conduct, Dr. Usman Jahun also stressed the need for them to contribute their quota towards peaceful and successful conduct of Saturday’s poll.

The Commander General of VGN equally stressed the need for politicians to imbibe the spirit of sportsmanship before, during and after the election to further ensure the progress and development of FCT.
