The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested three suspected members of a notorious “one-chance” armed robbery gang in connection with the murder of an Abuja-based legal practitioner, Barrister Princess Chigbo Nwamaka.

According to the police, the arrests followed a focused, intelligence-driven operation ordered by the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Miller Dantawaye, who instructed operatives to ensure that all individuals involved in the killing and related criminal activities were brought to justice.

In a statement issued on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer, FCT Command, SP Josephine Adeh, it was disclosed that operatives of the Command’s Scorpion Squad, led by ACP Victor Ogbeide Godfrey, carried out the operation between January 5 and 10, 2026. The team tracked the victim’s mobile phone using digital forensic intelligence.
The intelligence-led effort resulted in coordinated arrests in Dei-Dei, Dakwa and Dan-Tata communities within the Kubwa axis of the FCT.
Those apprehended were identified as Saifullahi Yusuf, 22, and his elder brother, Ishau Yusuf, 24, both indigenes of Kaduna State and residents of Dan-Tata, Dei-Dei, as well as Minka’ilu Jibril, popularly known as Dan-Hajia, also from Kaduna State.
Police investigations revealed that the suspects are members of a long-standing “one-chance” robbery syndicate operating across the FCT, particularly during festive periods.
Findings further showed that on January 5, 2026, at about 5:50 p.m., the suspects allegedly attacked Barrister Chigbo after she boarded their black Volkswagen Golf 3 vehicle along the Kubwa Expressway.
The suspects reportedly wound up the tinted windows, threatened her with weapons and attempted to extort money for her release. When she allegedly resisted, they assaulted her physically and pushed her out of the moving vehicle along the expressway, resulting in fatal injuries.
The suspects also reportedly confessed to stealing the victim’s Android mobile phone, which was later sold in Dei-Dei for ₦120,000. Police said Minka’ilu Jibril received ₦30,000, Saifullahi Yusuf ₦15,000, while Ishau Yusuf and another suspect currently at large, identified as Musa, shared the remaining amount.
Items believed to have been used in carrying out the crimes were recovered during the arrests. These include five scissors, two daggers, two knives, a long chain allegedly used to restrain victims, and a plier.
The police stated that efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspect and dismantle other criminal networks linked to the syndicate.
Commending the operatives for their professionalism, CP Dantawaye assured residents of the FCT of the Command’s resolve to rid the territory of criminal elements. He also urged members of the public to remain vigilant, avoid boarding suspicious or unregistered vehicles, and promptly report criminal activities through the Command’s emergency lines: 08032003913 and 07057337653.
