Former Kogi Governor Ibrahim Idris Buried in Abuja
The late former Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, has been buried at the Gudu Cemetery in Abuja, Federal Capital Territory, on Friday, September 25, 2026.
Idris died in a London hospital last Sunday, and his remains were flown to Abuja, where they were received by the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Usman Ododo; former Governor Idris Ichalla Wada; his eldest son, Abunakar Ibrahim Idris; and many prominent Nigerians from all walks of life.
The funeral rites concluded with Jana’iza (Islamic funeral) prayers at the Abuja National Mosque, followed by his interment at the cemetery.
Late Idris hailed from Icheke in Omala Local Government Council of Kogi East Senatorial District.
A credible source close to his family disclosed that Idris, popularly known as Ibro, had indicated his wish to be buried at Gudu Cemetery according to Islamic rites if he died.
It could be recalled that his son and a former one-time member of the House of Representatives, Mohammed Ibrahim Idris, who died on April 10, 2024, was also buried at the Gudu Cemetery in Abuja.
