FRSC Boosts Licence Production Capacity to Clear Backlog of Applications
By our Reporter
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has increased its daily driver’s licence production capacity to 15,000 as part of ongoing efforts to clear the backlog of pending applications nationwide.
The Corps Marshal, Mallam Shehu Mohammed, disclosed this while inspecting the VIP Capture Centre at the FRSC headquarters in Abuja.
According to him, the initiative follows the recent upgrade of the Corps’ printing facilities at the Abuja and Lagos Drivers Licence Centres, aimed at resolving long-standing challenges in obtaining driver’s licences and vehicle number plates.
Mallam Mohammed assured that the upgraded system would significantly cut down waiting times, speed up processing, and enhance data integrity. He explained that the move was part of the Corps’ broader strategy to modernise its operations through technology-driven solutions.
He further stated that with the enhanced production capacity, the FRSC is on track to clear all outstanding driver’s licences before the second week of November 2025.
The Corps Marshal added that a comprehensive plan has been activated to sustain the improved output and prevent future delays in service delivery.
Reaffirming the FRSC’s commitment to efficiency, transparency, and timely service delivery, Mohammed expressed concern over the non-collection of 206,000 printed driver’s licences across the country. He urged applicants to visit their designated centres to claim their documents.
“The Corps has intensified round-the-clock operations to clear the backlog of driver’s licence production across the country,” he said.
“Out of the 800,000 backlogged driver’s licences nationwide, 400,000 have been printed, with 206,000 yet to be collected by applicants,” he added.
Mohammed commended the dedication of FRSC personnel at the production centres, noting that many officers worked late into the night to meet set targets.
He expressed optimism that with the renewed drive, the Corps would soon normalise licence production and completely eliminate delays in processing.
