FRSC Expands Staff Welfare with New Housing Estate

Affordable Housing for Personnel
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has reaffirmed its commitment to improving the welfare of its personnel through affordable housing, announcing plans to collaborate with development partners, traditional institutions, and financial organisations to provide decent homes for its officers and men.

The Corps Marshal, Mallam Shehu Mohammed, made the disclosure while commissioning a 36-unit housing estate at Auta Ba Lefi in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. He said staff welfare remains a top priority for the Corps, adding that efforts are already underway with relevant stakeholders to provide accommodation for personnel interested in the housing scheme.
Mallam Mohammed disclosed that the FRSC is engaging relevant institutions to develop additional housing projects in Bwari and Orozo, noting that 50 hectares of land have already been acquired and allocated to staff. He also commended the Karu Traditional Council for donating 125 plots of land in support of the Corps’ housing initiative. He assured that the FRSC would remain committed to implementing its 2025–2030 Housing Strategic Roadmap, which targets the delivery of 1,400 housing units to address the housing deficit among personnel.
Speaking at the event, the Esu of Karu, Luka Baba Panya, praised the FRSC for maintaining the free flow of traffic despite ongoing road construction in the area. He said the establishment of more federal government institutions would enhance socio-economic activities in the community and pledged the continued support of the Karu Traditional Council for FRSC operations. Also speaking, the Deputy Chairman of Karu Local Government Area, Ibrahim Bulus, assured the Corps of adequate security for its facilities and properties, while urging other government agencies to take advantage of Karu’s peaceful and crime-free environment by locating their projects in the area.
