Government, Employers Unite for Decent Work, Industrial Harmony

The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening collaboration with the organised private sector to promote decent work, protect workers’ welfare and sustain industrial harmony in Nigeria.

The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, Dr. Kamil Shoretire, stated this when he received the Director-General of the Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA), Mr. Smart Oyerinde, on a courtesy visit to his office in Abuja.
Dr. Shoretire stressed that government could not achieve sustainable economic growth and job creation without the active participation of employers and other critical private sector stakeholders.
According to him, stronger collaboration between the Ministry and NECA would provide an important platform for addressing emerging labour and employment challenges, improving compliance with labour standards and ensuring that policies and interventions effectively respond to the realities of workers.
Earlier, the Director-General of NECA, Mr. Smart Oyerinde, commended the Ministry for its open-door policy and pledged the association’s continued cooperation in promoting best labour practices and building a workforce capable of contributing effectively to Nigeria’s economic transformation.
