Group wants FAAC allocations to channel for public welfare, rural developments
Confederation of All Progressives Congress (APC) Support Groups has advocated President Bola Tinubu’s intervention to ensure the monthly revenues shared by the Federal Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) channel for public welfare and rural developments.
The group urged the President to call all the state governors to order and ensure that heavy allocations they received monthly have an impact on the welfare of Nigerians and development of the country.
Its Director-General, Prof. Kailani Muhammad, said this while speaking with newsmen in Abuja.
Muhammad expressed concern over the kind of projects executed by some governors, which are not commensurate with heavy allocations they received monthly.
He said that the removal of petrol subsidy gave the governors an avenue to have bigger allocations, which do not impact the lives of the masses of Nigeria.
According to him, they become king gods. Few years ago, the President reiterated that we should go back to our governors.
“He has been giving them trillions of naira, but we don’t see it. Even the National Chairman of our great party, APC, also said we should pressure them.
“It was also in the newspapers a few days ago that we should pressure the governors to bring out all this money so that it will reach the masses.
“Let the government know that the governors don’t have anybody anymore.
“This is imperative because the President is thinking that the governors can deliver in 2027 general elections. They are just sitting on the fence. They don’t have nobody. Let him (President) be very careful.
“Let this money trickle down to market women, the association of the journalists, the support groups, student associations, farmers associations, labour unions.
“Let him call these governors and direct them to give this money out. And he should stop too much taxes on us,” he said.
Also speaking, Dr Ahmed Saleh, the Director of Publicity of the group, urged the President to change his pattern of the nation’s economic policy.
According to him, President Bola Tinubu should look inwards and organise some good experts, economic policy makers who will tell him the right thing to be done.
