The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has applauded the security agencies for their decisive efforts in countering the incursion of bandits into Shanono Local Government Area of Kano State from neighbouring states.

Troops of the Joint Task Force Operation MESA in Shanono, led by the 3 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, successfully repelled the bandits’ advance and safeguarded the affected communities.

Acting on a tip-off about bandit movements on November 1, the troops, supported by other security agencies, engaged the criminals in a fierce encounter that led to the neutralisation of 19 bandits.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir, Senator Barau commended the troops for their courage, professionalism, and gallantry in defending the area.

He expressed grief over the loss of two soldiers and a vigilante operative who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty, describing them as heroes who died protecting their people.

The Deputy Senate President urged residents of the area to remain vigilant, stay calm, and promptly report any suspicious activities to security personnel for timely intervention.
