The meeting is expected to provide Nigerians with fresh updates on the commission’s preparations, particularly the voters’ register, nomination of candidates, election logistics and measures being implemented to ensure a credible and transparent electoral process.

INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, SAN, will lead the commission’s engagement with stakeholders and is expected to outline key areas of progress and preparations ahead of the polls.

Political party leaders, security agencies under the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security, diplomatic representatives, development partners, civil society organisations, election observers, disability rights advocates, religious and traditional leaders, youth organisations and media executives are expected to attend.

The proceedings will also be broadcast live on major national television networks and streamed on INEC’s official social media platforms.

INEC said attendance would be strictly by invitation, with accredited media representatives and other invited guests required to present their invitation cards or accreditation badges at security checkpoints.

With the 2027 elections approaching, the October 6 meeting is expected to offer political parties, civil society groups, security agencies and the wider public a clearer picture of INEC’s readiness for the polls.
