Enikanolaiye Urges Okun People to Embrace Unity for Greater Development
The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye, has called on the Okun people to remain united and inclusive, saying cohesion among the people will help attract more development projects to Okunland.
Enikanolaiye made the appeal while receiving a delegation of the Okun Development Initiative (ODI) on a courtesy visit in Abuja.
The delegation, led by the National Coordinator of ODI, Deacon Otitoju Olusuyi, visited to congratulate the minister on his appointment and pledge the support of the Okun people for his tenure.
Speaking during the meeting, the minister commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his commitment to improving the lives of Nigerians through the Renewed Hope Agenda.
He explained that the administration’s foreign policy is driven by the 4D Agenda—Demography, Development, Democracy and Diaspora—which places emphasis on citizen diplomacy and the welfare of Nigerians both at home and abroad.
Enikanolaiye noted that President Tinubu has shown special interest in the Okun nation, pointing out that several sons and daughters of the area currently occupy strategic positions in government.
He urged the people of Okun to continue supporting the Tinubu administration, arguing that such solidarity would enhance the area’s chances of attracting greater federal presence and developmental projects.
The minister also pledged his commitment to the unity, progress and development of Okunland, while encouraging the Okun Development Initiative to remain inclusive in its activities.
According to him, unity and inclusiveness are essential pillars of democracy and critical to achieving sustainable development.
Earlier, Deacon Olusuyi congratulated Enikanolaiye on his appointment and assured him of the unwavering support of Okun people at home and in the diaspora.
He also expressed the group’s readiness to collaborate with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to attract development opportunities to Okunland.
As part of the visit, the delegation presented a giant congratulatory card to the minister as a symbol of appreciation and solidarity.
Enikanolaiye reaffirmed his commitment to working with stakeholders to advance the interests of Okunland and ensure the community benefits from the policies and programmes of the Federal Government.
