Gwagwalada Gridlock: FRSC Urges Motorists to Exercise Caution

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has called on motorists to drive with caution following the ongoing dismantling of the temporary steel fortification on the Gwagwalada bridge, which has resulted in gridlock around the area.
In view of this development, the FCT Sector Commander, Mr. Felix Theman, called on motorists to exercise patience and cooperate with FRSC personnel and other security agencies deployed to the area to ensure the free flow of traffic.

According to the Sector Commander, the expansion and steel fortifications on the bridge were put in place last year to facilitate the movement of heavy equipment, which necessitated the temporary closure of the inward carriageway.
He explained that the ongoing dismantling exercise has inevitably slowed down vehicular movement and caused delays for travellers, leading to loss of man-hours and other inconveniences.
As the Sallah festive period approaches, with the likelihood of increased vehicular movement along the corridor, the FCT Sector Commander urged motorists to maintain lane discipline, avoid dangerous overtaking, and adhere strictly to all traffic regulations while approaching and navigating through the construction zone.
According to him, this will help prevent avoidable crashes and ensure that the current situation is not worsened by lack of cooperation from road users.
The Sector Commander assured the public that officers and men of the Corps would continue to provide necessary guidance, directions, and advice where necessary, adding that the command remains in constant contact with the company to hasten the completion of the work.
