“He Prepared Himself and Said Goodbye, We Never Knew He Wouldn’t Return”—Shade Ajiboye Mourns Husband Killed in Kwara Attack
According to a report by Punch Newspaper on Sunday, September 7, 2025, Mrs. Shade Ajiboye, wife of 46-year-old security guard, Wale, who was among three persons killed by gunmen in Rore community, Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, has narrated how her husband’s sudden death has thrown her family into confusion.
She recounted that her husband left home for work like every other day, showing no sign of danger, only for her to later receive the devastating news of his death.
“He prepared himself and said goodbye, and we didn’t know that would be the last time we’d see him,” she said with grief.
Shade explained that Wale had always been a hardworking man who, despite his modest earnings, provided for his family and carefully planned for their children’s future. Before the tragedy, they had agreed on vocational skills each of the children would learn: tailoring, welding, barbing, and other trades.
Wale, who once practiced barbing before becoming a security guard, was determined to support his children in their chosen paths so they could live independently and have a brighter future.
His untimely death has now left the family stranded and uncertain of how to move forward without their breadwinner.
Describing him as a man who cared deeply for his family, Shade said he constantly made sacrifices to ensure their well-being. His sudden absence, she added, has created a painful void that would be difficult to fill.
For her and the children, the tragedy remains a heavy burden, as dreams carefully built with their father have now been cut short.
