Ikenna Ukwa Progressive Group Endorses Senator Orji Uzor Kalu for Continued Representation

The Ikenna Ukwa Progressive Group has thrown its weight behind Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, applauding his developmental strides across Abia North Senatorial District, particularly in Ohafia Local Government Area.
In a statement signed by the group’s Director General, Igwe Francis Okereke, the organisation said it had followed the ongoing debate surrounding the Abia North Senate seat and deemed it necessary to make its stance public.
The group stated that its principal, Hon. Chief Ikenna Ukwa, strongly upholds party supremacy and the democratic right of every member to pursue elective office.
While welcoming healthy political competition, the group stressed the importance of acknowledging Senator Kalu’s outstanding legislative performance, which it said has significantly transformed the narrative of representation in Abia North, with tangible results evident in Ohafia.
Among the achievements highlighted were renovations of several community schools, distribution of educational materials, and construction of key rural roads and infrastructure in Ohafia.
Projects cited include Ujurueze Community Primary School, Amuma Community Primary School, Isiugwu Community School, and schools in Abiriba and Nkporo. Beneficiary institutions of educational support included Abia Model Basic School, Otodo Model Primary School, and Ambele Central School, among others.
The group also pointed to Senator Kalu’s efforts in providing solar-powered streetlights across Abia North, as well as major road works such as Bourdex Road in Abiriba, rural access roads in Agboji and Amangwu, and infrastructure upgrades in Ohafia and Nkporo. Additionally, it noted the construction of a hostel at Hope Waddell International Secondary School, Ohafia, and the renovation of Okoko Primary School in Nkporo.
Expressing confidence in Senator Kalu’s growing influence at the national level, the Ikenna Ukwa Progressive Group maintained that his continued presence in the Senate would attract greater development to Abia North in the coming dispensation.
