Residents of Aba in Abia State have commended Governor Alex Otti for his administration’s strides in infrastructure and development, following the commissioning of 14 completed road projects in the commercial city.

The newly inaugurated roads were officially commissioned on June 10, 2025, in what citizens described as a transformative moment for Aba, historically plagued by poor infrastructure.

Among the completed roads are Umuode Road, Bakassi Road, Isu Ihiteukwa Street, and several others. The projects were reportedly constructed to “Taiwan standards,” a quality level many residents say has not been seen in the state for nearly four decades.

Governor Otti’s intervention in Aba’s road network is being credited with turning the city—once labelled one of the dirtiest in Nigeria—into one of the cleanest urban centres in the country.

In addition to road infrastructure, the Otti administration is investing significantly in sectors such as education, agriculture, manufacturing, trade, entrepreneurship, production, and energy. These initiatives are expected to create thousands of jobs and stimulate long-term economic growth in the state.

The Governor’s efforts have earned him widespread public admiration. At the commissioning event, residents celebrated the improvements and lauded the Governor’s focus on service delivery.

Some community members, in an extraordinary show of support, pledged to back Governor Otti’s wife should she run for governor after his tenure, describing him as a “messiah” for Abia State.

Beyond the roads already commissioned, other large-scale infrastructural projects are reportedly underway across the state. These developments are aimed at improving living standards and sustaining economic development.

Governor Otti’s administration has been praised for its transparency, long-term vision, and commitment to rebuilding Abia State.

As work continues, residents say they remain optimistic about the state’s future and confident in the Governor’s leadership.
