President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a one-year extension of the tenure of the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi.
The announcement was made in a statement released on Thursday by the Presidential Spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, who noted that the extension is aimed at allowing Adeniyi to build on the achievements recorded under his leadership.
Initially scheduled to conclude on August 31, 2025, Adeniyi’s tenure will now continue for another year, during which he is expected to drive ongoing reforms and complete key initiatives already underway within the service.
According to the statement, the extension will support the modernisation of the Nigeria Customs Service, accelerate the implementation of the National Single Window Project, and enhance Nigeria’s participation in the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) protocol.
President Tinubu commended Adeniyi for his dedicated service and consistent leadership, expressing confidence in his ability to further strengthen the institution.
