Katsina Tragedy: Family of Five Perishes in Midnight House Fire

A tragic midnight fire has claimed the lives of an entire family of five in the Kofar Sauri area of Katsina metropolis, leaving the community stunned and grieving. The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Monday, resulted in the death of a father, mother, and their three children. By the time neighbours noticed the blaze, the house had already been consumed by flames, with most belongings destroyed beyond recognition.

Community sources suspect that the fire may have been sparked by a sudden power surge that occurred when electricity was restored.

“There was an unusual surge when power returned, and that is likely what triggered the fire,” a resident stated, noting that high-voltage electricity supply is common in the area during late hours.

Others attributed the tragedy to the intensifying harmattan season, which has recently contributed to several fire incidents across the state.

“The strong winds and dry harmattan cold make it easy for fires to spread quickly. This isn’t the first case,” another resident added.

However, some community members are calling on authorities to investigate thoroughly to rule out any possibility of foul play.
