Kogi West Group Cautions Omodara: Focus on Insecurity, Uphold Fairness, Equity, and Justice
The Kogi West Concerned Group has cautioned the State Security Adviser, retired Commander Jerry Omodara, to tread carefully and focus on his primary assignment of ensuring security—an area they claim he has failed woefully.
According to Prof. Daniel Bonire, spokesperson of the group, the caution followed Omodara’s remarks to newsmen in Lokoja during a one-day workshop for women themed “Building Trust for a Renewed Hope”, organized by his office in collaboration with the Kogi Women Empowerment Coalition (KWEC).
Bonire stated that the era of sacrificing the collective interest for crumbs was over, emphasizing the need for fairness, justice, and equity in the state.
The group noted that Senator Karimi’s call for Kogi West to produce the next governor was timely and reflected the will of the people.
They lamented that despite the huge allocations to security, insecurity has worsened under the current Security Adviser, whom they accused of prioritizing selfish and personal interests. As a result, residents have reportedly been forced to relocate from their homes for fear of attacks.
Describing Senator Karimi as focused, courageous, and unafraid, the group criticized Omodara for attempting to downplay the senator’s statements, which they said represent the genuine voice of Kogi West people—except for a few appointees and government beneficiaries.
The group further alleged that some individuals in government had become “happy slaves,” remaining in office for over a decade without meaningful impact on their constituents. “Our people know them,” the group said. “They have sold their souls to the devil, content with building houses in Abuja while neglecting the wellbeing and future of disenfranchised Kogi West citizens.”
They reminded Omodara of his earlier commendation of Senator Karimi during the inauguration of the multi-million naira Forward Security Base built by the senator, urging him to acknowledge the reality that Kogi West’s quest for the governorship in 2027—after 34 years of state creation—cannot be sacrificed on the altar of selfish interests.
The Concerned Group reaffirmed their appreciation for Senator Karimi’s quality representation, describing his achievements as surpassing those of past representatives.
They concluded by stressing that justice, equity, and fairness remain the foundation of peaceful coexistence, urging Omodara to reflect this truth in his security advice and remind those in authority that lasting peace is only possible when fairness and justice prevail.
