KOICA and SKICAN Empower Youth-Led Innovation Through Digital Literacy and Content Creation.

In a vibrant celebration of innovation, collaboration, and youth-driven problem-solving, the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and the South Korea International Cooperation Alumni of Nigeria (SKICAN) successfully hosted the 2025 edition of the Capstone Project Program in Abuja.
Delivering the keynote address on behalf of Mr. Kim Eunsub, Country Director, KOICA Mr. Godwin Okwoche commended the initiative, emphasizing that the Capstone Project is a SKICAN inspired program funded by KOICA to enhance digital literacy and transform the teaching and learning experience in schools across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). He encouraged the students to actively apply the knowledge and skills acquired through intensive training.

In his remarks, Mr. Joseph Oboh, President of SKICAN, described the 2025 Capstone Project as a dynamic follow-up to the successful 2024 edition, which empowered 5 FCT Schools namely GSS, Tudunwada Zone 4,GSS, Wuse ,Zone 3, GSS, Mabushi,GSS, Garki and GSS, Jabi with over 75 Students to integrate ICT into their learning environments. He highlighted that the initiative provides a platform for students to translate academic knowledge into practical, real-world solutions
aligning with National and Global priorities on youth empowerment, digital transformation, and sustainable development.

He further noted that Students were also introduced to the use of content creation as a powerful tool to tell compelling stories, promote digital inclusion, and enhance awareness of business and human rights value systems within their communities and schools.

Mr. Oboh also applauded KOICA’s unwavering commitment to development and innovation, and reaffirmed that SKICAN members, as proud alumni, remain dedicated to advancing KOICA’s transformative mission and creating tangible impact within their communities.

In his contributions, Mr. Lawrence Tawo, Team Lead for the Capstone Project 2025, described the program as both “educative and inspiring.” He highlighted the critical role of digital literacy in today’s knowledge-driven world and noted that the project was intentionally designed to be impactful and student-centered.

He expressed pride in what the participating Students accomplished and extended gratitude to everyone who contributed to the program’s success.

The Students in turn, expressed their appreciation to KOICA and SKICAN for the opportunity promising to apply the knowledge and skills gained not only for personal development but also to positively influence their school communities.

The highlight of the one-day Capstone event was the hands-on experience provided to students, equipping them with essential technical and soft skills that enhance educational growth and readiness for the digital economy.

This collaboration between KOICA and SKICAN is a demonstration of what is possible when global partnerships are driven by a shared vision for youth empowerment, innovation, and sustainable development in Africa.
