Kuruduma Residents Demand Return of Keke to Ease Transport Challenges
Residents of Kuruduma 3, located in the Asokoro area of the Federal Capital Territory, have appealed to the Federal Capital Territory Administration to permit the use of commercial tricycles, popularly known as “Keke,” along the Kuruduma–Abacha Barracks Road to improve mobility.
In an interview with Kapital FM in Abuja, the residents described transportation within the area as challenging, citing high fares and limited commuting options.
Two residents, Mr. Musa Yakubu and Mrs. Mary Abah, explained that the restriction on tricycles has worsened movement for many people, especially low-income earners trying to get to their destinations. They noted that Keke remains the most affordable means of transportation for residents.
They further urged the government to consider allowing regulated Keke operations with proper safety measures, stressing that such a move would not only ease movement but also boost economic activities in Kuruduma 3.
