The Minister of Women Affairs, Mrs. Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, has once again disrupted an event organized under the Ministry’s name without her authorization.

In a video that has gone viral, the Minister was captured informing the event organizers that while she supports the idea of workshops and seminars, it is essential that these programs include a focus on women’s empowerment.

She emphasized that such events alone would not have a meaningful impact on the people. “Let this be the final instance where Women Affairs is involved in anything I am not aware of.

If it happens again, I will come here and ensure you are publicly embarrassed.
I am aware of the challenges we face in this country. We keep holding these events, while recently, we had hunger protests and discussions about peace and security.
Women remain underpowered, children are struggling, and Nigerians are suffering, yet resources are wasted on insignificant activities. I apologize if my stance is misunderstood, but I am prepared for that. I am determined to change the narratives, no program should be conducted without a focus on empowerment,” she stated.

She continued, “You discuss peace and security but fail to address poverty. Workshops alone won’t solve it. Where are we heading if we misallocate funds that could make a real difference? How will poverty be tackled if money is wasted on ineffective projects? I have shifted the narrative; no program should occur without an empowerment component.
Funds allocated to ministries are often squandered on travel and events that do not benefit the nation. The amount of money given to ministries is staggering.

“Why should this continue? We must act to prevent such waste. We must save ourselves. Call me names, label me a troublemaker or a madwoman, I am ready for it.”
