The Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau, Ph.D., has condemned in strong terms the recent midnight attack on Nindama community in Kokona Local Government Area by unknown gunmen.

Dr. Jatau, who visited the community on Wednesday, sympathized with residents and families who lost their loved ones during the tragic incident.

It would be recalled that last Thursday night, unidentified assailants invaded Nindama community, resulting in the death of several innocent persons.

During his sympathy visit, the Speaker called for calm among the people, assuring them that Governor Abdullahi Sule has taken proactive measures to prevent a recurrence of such attacks.

“This is very sad, unfortunate, barbaric, and painful. We must leave vengeance to God Almighty, who will fight for the innocent. God gives life and does not permit anyone to take another’s life. Taking a life is a great sin before God and a serious offence under the law. Let us not repay evil with evil; both God and the law will take their course,” he said.

“I am here to sympathize with you on behalf of the entire Nasarawa State House of Assembly. Please accept our heartfelt condolences, sympathy, and prayers. I commend Governor Abdullahi Sule for the practical steps he has taken so far in response to this incident and assure you that the government is fully on top of the situation.”

He further urged residents to remain peaceful and united, emphasizing the importance of love and communal harmony.
“Let us continue to live together in peace and unity, love one another, and be our brother’s keeper. There is nothing greater than the peace we enjoy. Let us sustain and promote it because there is no gain in violence,” the Speaker added.

Dr. Jatau condemned the attack in its entirety and called on citizens to always fear God and uphold moral values to build a just and peaceful society.

Responding, the ward head of Nindama community, Ibrahim Alkali, expressed shock and grief over the attack, noting that it plunged the community into mourning.

He thanked the Speaker for the visit, prayed for divine reward, and appealed for more government support, including increased security presence in the area.
