Ndukuba @65: Humility, Sacrifice Key to Leadership

The Primate of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Most Reverend Henry Ndukuba, has urged church leaders to embrace humility and selflessness in their service to God and humanity.

Speaking during a thanksgiving service and the presentation of a book to mark his 65th birthday at the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Life Camp, Abuja, Archbishop Ndukuba said Nigeria’s challenges could be overcome if leaders placed the welfare of the people above personal interests and demonstrated sacrificial leadership.
The Anglican Primate thanked God for granting him purposeful years and reaffirmed his commitment to dedicating the years ahead to making greater impact in the Church and his community.
Delivering the sermon, the Guest Preacher, Most Reverend Gabriel Akinbiyi, encouraged church leaders to lead by example and avoid the pursuit of worldly possessions. He urged priests to emulate Jesus Christ by prioritising the spiritual growth of their followers and commended Archbishop Ndukuba’s leadership, describing it as impactful through his promotion of peace and care for the needy.
Reviewing the book, The Reign of God (Walking the Path), in which Archbishop Ndukuba reflects on God’s sovereign purpose for the Church, former Minister of Power and former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Professor Chinedu Nebo, described it as a timely contribution to Christian leadership, discipleship and biblical teaching.

Also speaking, the immediate past Primate of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Most Reverend Nicholas Okoh, described Archbishop Ndukuba as a faithful servant whose leadership has strengthened the Anglican Communion and inspired many within and outside the Church.
