New Benue Commissioners Take Oath, Pledge to Deliver on Alia’s Agenda

Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has sworn in seven newly appointed commissioners, charging them to ensure efficient service delivery while upholding integrity, accountability and the public interest.

Those sworn in are Hon. Kuma Aii Yenge, Hon. Roy Ashirga Terna, Hon. Angwa Egbe Monday, Hon. Elizabeth Onma Ogenyi, Hon. Solomon Iorpev, Hon. Nick Eworo and Hon. Ankwa Amo.
Speaking during the ceremony on Friday at the Government House in Makurdi, Governor Alia reminded the new commissioners that their appointment was not merely an elevation to public office, but a call to service and an opportunity to contribute to the development and prosperity of Benue State.
He urged them to understand the weight of the responsibility they had assumed, stressing that the oath they took was not to serve themselves or any particular interest group, but the people of Benue State.
“Let me equally remind you that public office is temporary, but the legacies you create through your service can endure for generations,” he added.
The Governor advised the commissioners to remain accessible to the people, listen to their concerns, visit their villages and interact with the electorate to understand the realities on the ground rather than relying solely on reports.
“I expect you to communicate, cooperate and share ideas. Where one ministry needs the support of another, provide it. Where responsibilities overlap, work together,” he said.
While assuring the new commissioners of his support and cooperation, Governor Alia encouraged them to work together towards building a Benue State where good governance is experienced not merely in government offices, but in the daily lives of the people.
Responding on behalf of the newly inaugurated commissioners, Hon. Nick Eworo thanked the Governor for finding them worthy and trusting them with the responsibility of serving the people of the state.
He pledged the commitment of the team, saying they would remain diligent and focused on ensuring that the government of Governor Hyacinth Alia achieves the desired results and delivers the needed dividends of democracy to the people.
Governor Alia also swore in Hon. Godwin Anya as a member of the Assembly Service Commission and inaugurated the Chairman, Rev. Fr. Patrick Alumuku, alongside the board members of Benue Television.
