The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) has received another Nigerian victim of human trafficking and labour exploitation rescued from Cairo, Egypt.

The victim, Mrs. Busola Victoria Alale, returned to Nigeria on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, after enduring harsh and exploitative working conditions abroad.

Alale, a 41-year-old indigene of Ogun State, was received at the Lagos airport by the Head of NiDCOM’s Lagos Office, Mr. Dipo Odebowale, on behalf of the Commission’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa.

Sharing her experience, Alale described the severe hardship she faced while working as a domestic worker in Cairo.

She said she was forced to work under inhumane conditions, with her daily routine often beginning at 9:00 a.m. and stretching until 4:00 a.m. the following day without proper rest.

According to her, she was made to move from one employer to another within the same day, carrying out multiple domestic tasks with little time to recover.

She explained that she had previously operated a small frozen foods business in Nigeria, but after the business collapsed, she decided to travel abroad in search of greener pastures.
However, she said the promises of a better life turned out to be false, leaving her trapped in abuse and frustration.

Alale expressed regret over the decision and warned Nigerian youths, especially women, against rushing into foreign domestic jobs without proper verification.

She advised young people to be cautious of agents and recruiters offering attractive job opportunities abroad, stressing that many end in exploitation.

She also thanked Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa and NiDCOM for their support and swift intervention in facilitating her rescue and return to Nigeria.

NiDCOM reiterated its commitment to protecting Nigerians in the diaspora and warned citizens against irregular migration and unverified overseas job offers.
The commission urged Nigerians to always seek proper guidance and confirm job opportunities through official government channels before travelling abroad.
