Nigeria @ 65: NFSS Commander General Felicitates Nigerians, Urges President Tinubu to Sign NFSS Bill into Law

The Commander General of the Nigeria Forest Security Service (NFSS), Dr. Joshua Osatimehin, has extended his warm congratulations to President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, members of the NFSS across the nation, and all Nigerians on the occasion of the country’s 65th Independence Anniversary.

In a goodwill message issued in Abuja to mark the anniversary, Dr. Osatimehin acknowledged that while Nigeria has faced several challenges, the nation’s continued unity and existence remain a testimony of God’s grace.

He praised the sacrifices of Nigeria’s founding fathers and emphasized the importance of all citizens, especially political leaders, remaining committed to their vision for a stronger and more prosperous nation.

The NFSS Commander General expressed optimism that with the collective support of all stakeholders, Nigeria would soon attain its rightful position in the global community. He further urged religious groups to remain steadfast in prayers for the country’s peace, security, and economic recovery.

Dr. Osatimehin also used the occasion to appeal to President Bola Tinubu to assent to the NFSS Bill currently before him. According to him, signing the Bill into law would significantly advance the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly in strengthening national security.

He noted that granting the NFSS constitutional recognition would enhance Nigeria’s overall security framework, especially in safeguarding the nation’s forests.

Reiterating the NFSS’s unwavering support to the Police, Military, NSCDC, and other security agencies, Dr. Osatimehin stressed the collective responsibility of all Nigerians in combating banditry, kidnapping, terrorism, and other forms of criminality.

He concluded by reminding citizens that security is everyone’s business, adding that with unity and collaboration, Nigeria will overcome its current challenges and emerge stronger.
