Nigeria has made remarkable strides at 65

Senior Pastor of the Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church, Daki-Biyu District, Kubwa, Abuja, Alex Ogundipe, has said that Nigeria has made significant progress since its independence 65 years ago.

Ogundipe made the remarks at the Church’s 20th Harvest Thanksgiving Anniversary themed “Double Glory.”

He said that in spite of the nation’s challenges, the hand of God remains evident in Nigeria’s journey.

“The glory is that if you speak well of your country, you will see the good in it,” he said.

“The glory of God in a man’s life enables him to fulfill his purpose and destiny.”

The cleric encouraged Nigerians to support President Bola Tinubu and pray for national leaders, stating that their success is key to sustained national development.

He also expressed confidence in the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda, describing it as a platform capable of driving Nigeria’s progress.

Citing Tinubu’s comments during the coronation of Oba Rashidi Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, Ogundipe said the President’s economic reforms are already yielding positive results.

“Many criticized the ‘Emilokan’ declaration during Tinubu’s campaign. I told people then—it was prophetic. Nigeria is a blessed country beyond imagination,” he added.

Ogundipe also commended the government’s tax reform efforts, saying they are crucial for economic growth.

In a sermon, Pastor Zaccheus Akinadewo emphasised the transformative power of God’s glory in a person’s life, referencing 2 Corinthians 3:18:

“But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory.”

He urged Christians to shun sin and uphold moral integrity, while calling on national leaders to prioritise the common good over personal interests.

“Nigeria is heading toward the promised land. Our president is doing well—let’s support him,” he said.

Also speaking, Mrs Margaret Ohenhen, Chairperson of the Harvest Thanksgiving Committee, expressed gratitude for what she called “a new season of glory” in the church.

Represented by the Church’s Women Leader, Pastor Oluremi Olatundun, she highlighted the importance of gratitude and used the platform to advocate for greater female representation in politics.

“We need special seats for women in Parliament. The place of women in national development cannot be underestimated,” she said.

“Once given the right education and opportunity, Nigerian women will rise to the peak of their careers.”
