The Northern Nigeria Minorities Group (NNMG) has extended warm felicitations to the Federal Republic of Nigeria and its citizens as the country marks its 65th Independence Anniversary.

In a statement signed by its convener, Chief Jacob Edi, also known as Kakaki Bassange, the group described the occasion as a significant moment for national reflection and unity.

The group praised the country’s endurance through decades of challenges, stating that Nigeria’s continued unity despite adversity is a testament to the resilience and collective spirit of its people.

“Over the last six and a half decades, our unity and resolve to remain as one indivisible nation have been tested repeatedly. We remain solid and unwavered,” the statement read.

The NNMG paid tribute to Nigeria’s founding fathers and all leaders who have steered the nation through different phases of its journey, acknowledging their sacrifices and contributions to national development.

The group also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what it described as courageous leadership and a statesmanlike approach to governance. According to the statement, Tinubu’s policy choices reflect a prioritization of national interest over political expediency.

“His boldness in tackling difficult national issues is a testament to statesmanship and a clear expression of his faith in the future of this our dear country,” the group noted.

The NNMG urged all Nigerians to renew their commitment to the nation’s founding ideals and work collectively to build a country that lives up to the dreams and aspirations of its forebears.

“What has held us together is far greater than the forces that seek to divide us,” the statement emphasized.

The message concluded with a patriotic call for purpose-driven action and unity, as Nigeria looks toward the future.

Happy 65th Independence Anniversary, Nigeria.
