Nigeria, Sierra Leone Deepen Economic Ties as Maiden Trade Fair Opens in Freetown

Nigeria and Sierra Leone have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral trade and investment relations with the opening of the maiden Nigeria Chamber of Commerce Trade Fair in Freetown.

The event, held on July 30, brought together government officials, business leaders and entrepreneurs from both countries to explore new opportunities for trade, investment and private sector collaboration.

Nigeria’s High Commissioner to Sierra Leone, Ambassador Ayo Luther-Ogbomode, attended the opening ceremony, underscoring Nigeria’s commitment to promoting economic diplomacy and expanding commercial partnerships within the West African sub-region.

Declaring the trade fair open, Sierra Leone’s Minister of Trade and Industry, Hon. Alpha Ibrahim Sesay, highlighted the importance of stronger economic cooperation between the two countries, describing the initiative as a platform for boosting trade, investment and private sector development.

The trade fair showcased a range of Nigerian products and services while providing businesses from both countries with opportunities to establish partnerships, explore new markets and strengthen existing commercial relationships.

According to organisers, the event is expected to promote cross-border trade, facilitate business networking and reinforce the longstanding diplomatic and economic ties between Nigeria and Sierra Leone.

The mission reaffirmed its readiness to work with stakeholders in Nigeria and Sierra Leone to deepen commercial engagement and unlock new opportunities for sustainable economic growth and regional integration.
