Late Oreoluwa Odetunde, alumna of University of Lagos

A graduate of the University of Lagos, Oreoluwa Odetunde, has been discovered dead at her off-campus apartment in the United States.
Metro gathered on Sunday that Odetunde had just begun her first year in a Master of Business Administration programme at the Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management in New York.

In a report published on February 6 by The Cornell Daily Sun, she was described as an international student who obtained a bachelor’s degree in economics from UNILAG in 2017.
During her time at Cornell, Odetunde was actively involved in a number of student bodies, including the Johnson African Business Society, the Black Graduate Business Association and the Old Ezra Finance Club.
The report also noted that she was honoured as a Forté Fellow and Sage Scholar. She had taken part in research and strategy analysis for companies such as Anchoria Asset Management and Greenwich Merchant Bank.
In a LinkedIn statement, the Cornell Johnson Graduate School expressed grief over her passing: “We are devastated for Oreoluwa’s family, friends, classmates and instructors and extend our deepest condolences in this difficult time.”
Her death is the latest in a series of recent cases involving Nigerians who have died overseas.
In the United Kingdom, Nigerian footballer Saburi Adeniji was confirmed dead on February 6 after suffering a severe brain stem injury.
Likewise, another Nigerian student in the UK, Douglas Izevbigie, passed away on January 21 in a hospital following a battle with aggressive leukaemia. (The PUNCH)
