NNPC and Seplat announce routine maintenance on major gas facilities, temporary supply reduction expected.
Seplat Energy Plc, a joint venture partner of Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) and a major supplier of gas into the NNPC Gas Infrastructure Company Limited (NGIC) pipeline network, has announced a scheduled routine maintenance on its gas production facilities from February 12 to 15, 2026.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC Ltd., Andy Odeh, explained that the maintenance exercise is part of standard industry safety and asset integrity procedures aimed at ensuring the continued reliability, efficiency, and safe operation of critical gas infrastructure.
“Periodic maintenance of this nature is essential to sustain optimal system performance, strengthen operational resilience, and minimise the risk of unplanned outages,” he stated.
NNPC disclosed that during the four-day maintenance period, there will be a temporary reduction in gas supply into the NGIC pipeline network.
Consequently, some power generation companies that depend on the supply may experience reduced gas availability, which could slightly affect electricity generation within the period.
The statement added that NNPC Ltd. and Seplat Energy are collaborating closely to ensure the maintenance is carried out safely and completed as scheduled.
“In parallel, NNPC Gas Marketing Limited (NGML) is engaging alternative gas suppliers to cushion the anticipated supply gaps and maintain network stability,” it said.
The company assured that once the maintenance exercise is concluded, full gas supply into the NGIC system will resume promptly, allowing affected power generation companies to return to normal operations. Further updates, it noted, will be provided as necessary.
