NSIPA, Finance Ministry Emphasise Transparency in Social Investment Rollout

The National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA) and the Federal Ministry of Finance have reaffirmed their commitment to fiscal discipline, transparency, and efficiency in the implementation of social intervention programmes across Nigeria.

This assurance followed a courtesy visit by the Programme Manager of the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP), Hamza Baba, to the Minister of State for Finance, Doris Uzoka‑Anite, where both parties discussed integrating GEEP 2.

0 and 3.0 frameworks into the national economic recovery plan.

During the meeting, Baba commended the ministry’s policy direction on the release and management of funds for social interventions, stressing that ensuring every allocated naira reaches intended beneficiaries is essential for grassroots growth.

He noted that interest-free financing for smallholder farmers and petty traders not only provides economic relief but also strengthens Nigeria’s productive base.

Key Focus Areas Discussed
Sustainable funding: Strategies to secure long-term financing and optimise resource allocation to expand GEEP 3.0 initiatives TraderMoni, MarketMoni, and FarmerMoni to millions of beneficiaries.

Transparency and accountability: Agreement on stronger governance systems to guarantee accurate reporting, responsible fund use, and enforcement of repayment obligations to sustain trust.

Partnerships and digital inclusion:

Plans to deepen collaboration with banks, microfinance institutions, fintech firms, and civil society to enhance digital delivery and improve financial inclusion.

Operational coordination: Commitment to better inter-agency collaboration and technology adoption to reduce leakages, accelerate rollout, and improve beneficiary experience.

Uzoka-Anite reiterated the ministry’s resolve to uphold sound public financial management and support reforms that ensure social investment funds are disbursed responsibly and efficiently.
