Olofu Awards Additional N10 Million Scholarship to 100 Students in Benue South
From Dooshima Terkura, Makurdi
Dr. David Olofu, a leading contender for the Benue-South Senatorial District seat, has once again extended educational support to students by offering N10 million in scholarships to another batch of 100 beneficiaries from the district who are pursuing various courses in tertiary institutions across the country.
According to the philanthropist and politician, the gesture aligns with his commitment to advancing human capital development among his people.
Each of the beneficiaries, drawn from all nine local government areas of Benue South, will receive N100,000 through his philanthropic body, the Apa Legacy and Sustainability Initiatives.
The scheme builds on his earlier intervention last year, where a similar scholarship was awarded to indigent students, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to over 200 and the total value of the educational support to N20 million in just two years.
Notably, Dr. Olofu’s humanitarian projects extend beyond education. Recently, he empowered more than 100 rural women, mostly widows, with N200,000 each to support their small businesses and improve their livelihoods.
Our correspondent also reports that Olofu donated N10 million to St. Helen’s Specialist Hospital, Otukpo, to cover medical expenses for all pregnant women from Benue South, regardless of religious, political, ethnic, or social background.
In a statement issued to journalists, the philanthropist and politician said these gestures express his gratitude to the society that raised him and reflect his steadfast commitment to the progress of his people.
