One Bag, One Child: Foundation Backs Education in Durumi 2

One hundred less privileged pupils of LEA Primary School, City Gate, Durumi 2, Abuja, have received brand-new school bags and essential educational materials from the Wisewisdom Charity Foundation as part of efforts to promote inclusive and quality basic education.
The intervention, carried out under the theme, “Building Tomorrow Today: One Bag, One Child,” was designed to provide the pupils with basic learning tools, boost their confidence and help reduce educational inequality among children in the Federal Capital Territory.
Speaking during the distribution exercise, the Convener of the foundation, Dr. Peter Olumuji, said providing children with essential educational materials could have a direct impact on their lives and help them develop a stronger sense of belonging.
Olumuji, who spoke alongside members of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees, explained that the initiative was aimed at supporting young minds, particularly children who may face challenges in accessing basic educational resources.
He said the programme was also aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4 on Quality Education, Goal 10 on Reduced Inequalities and Goal 17 on Partnerships for the Goals.
The event attracted stakeholders from the Federal Capital Territory Administration, who commended the foundation for extending its intervention to children in underserved communities.
The Director of the FCT Department of Reforms Coordination and Service Improvement, Dr. Jumai Ahmadu, stressed the importance of supporting children from low-income backgrounds, saying concerted efforts were needed to ensure that no child was left behind in accessing quality basic education.
Ahmadu noted that interventions targeted at disadvantaged children could complement government efforts in strengthening access to education and creating better opportunities for the younger generation.
Similarly, the Head of Enforcement, FCT Social Development Secretariat, Mrs. Ukachi Adebayo, commended the foundation for its community-focused intervention.
Adebayo said initiatives that directly address the needs of vulnerable children were important to improving their welfare and educational prospects, and pledged continued support for the foundation’s interventions.
Responding on behalf of the school, the Headmistress of LEA Primary School, Mrs. Helen Adejare, expressed appreciation to the Wisewisdom Charity Foundation for the donation.
She urged other well-meaning Nigerians, corporate organisations and development partners to emulate the gesture by supporting schools and children in underserved communities.
The foundation reaffirmed its commitment to supporting disadvantaged communities through targeted educational interventions, stressing that providing children with essential learning materials would help create an enabling environment for learning and contribute to nurturing future leaders.
