The Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), has achieved major gains in its ongoing counter-terrorism campaign against Boko Haram, Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (JAS), and Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters across Borno and Yobe States.

On August 22, 2025, troops of the 21 Special Armoured Brigade successfully repelled a coordinated night assault on their Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Kumshe, Borno State.

The insurgents, heavily armed, faced fierce resistance as Nigerian Air Force (NAF) surveillance and precision airstrikes reinforced ground operations. Military sources confirmed that the battle inflicted significant casualties on the attackers.

Follow-up operations uncovered over 20 dead terrorists, some hastily buried in shallow graves, as well as a cache of recovered weapons.

In another operation that same day, Sector 1 troops launched an offensive at Dipchari, near Banki Junction in Bama Local Government Area, where several insurgents were neutralised. Troops recovered one Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) tube, two AK-47 rifles, two magazines, 16 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and two motorcycles.

The momentum carried into August 23, when Sector 2 forces, in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), conducted a long-range tactical raid around Ndoksa near Buni Gari, Yobe State. More terrorists were eliminated in the raid, with one AK-47 rifle and two motorcycles recovered.
