Gunmen suspected to be bandits have abducted a Nigerian Immigration officer, identified as Umar Yusuf, during an ആക്രമ on an Immigration Service outpost in Balia community, Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State.

Residents said the attackers, who arrived on motorcycles, carried out the assault in broad daylight at about 10 a.
m. on Tuesday, overpowering officers stationed at the facility.
It was gathered that the outpost is situated along Babanna Road, close to the Benin Republic border.
An Immigration officer, who spoke on condition of anonymity to Daily Trust, revealed that two AK-47 rifles loaded with ammunition were taken from personnel during the attack.
Residents also noted that Babanna Road has, over the years, become notorious for banditry and terrorist activities.
In November 2025, two soldiers were killed and several others—including civilians and security operatives—were injured when terrorists attacked a convoy belonging to the member representing Agwara/Borgu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Jafaru Mohammad Ali Damisa.
The lawmaker was reportedly on his way to Babanna in Borgu LGA when bandits ambushed his convoy at about 11 a.m., resulting in casualties among the security personnel attached to him.
Similarly, in July 2025, a Superintendent of Immigration, identified simply as Suleiman, was killed by terrorists suspected to be ISWAP elements at a service outpost in Lumma Sanke along the Babanna–Wawa Road.
The officer reportedly died when heavily armed attackers stormed the outpost, killed him, and set his body ablaze along with his service carbine.
