The Nasarawa State Police Command has thwarted a child trafficking attempt in Mararaba, rescuing three minors and arresting a female suspect.

In a statement, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, disclosed that the suspect, identified as Aisha Hashiru, was apprehended by members of the public at Orange Market while attempting to abduct the children.

Hashiru narrowly escaped mob justice before operatives, led by the Divisional Police Officer of Mararaba ‘A’ Division, swiftly intervened, ensuring the safety of both the children and the suspect.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect had sneaked into the residence of one Ramatu Auwal, where she abducted her three children. During interrogation, she admitted luring the minors with promises of biscuits.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Mohammed, has ordered the transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Lafia, for further investigation.

He further directed the command to intensify efforts in tracing other cases of missing children and to strengthen the fight against human trafficking.
