Popular Nollywood actress Ajara, widely known and loved as Aunty Ajara, has died following a brief battle with a liver-related illness. A medical doctor confirmed her passing to her family earlier on Thursday, February 5, 2026.
The sad development was made public in a viral video shared on social media by her elder brother, Ridwan Lazeez, who appreciated members of the public for their prayers and financial assistance during the actress’s period of illness.

Also confirming the news through her Instagram page, actress Mama No Network announced the passing in an emotional message. She wrote:
“With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved actress, Aunty Ajara. She passed on overnight after a long and courageous battle with illness.
“Throughout this difficult time, Ajara received overwhelming love, prayers, and financial support from kind-hearted people across the world. We sincerely appreciate everyone who stood by her with prayers, donations, encouragement, and compassion.
“At this point, we respectfully appeal to family, friends, and the general public to please stop sending money to the previously shared account, as it is no longer needed. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family, loved ones, and all those mourning this painful loss. May her soul rest in perfect peace.”
NUJ FCT reports that Aunty Ajara’s death occurred just days after some of her colleagues had taken to social media to seek financial support for her medical treatment.
Since the announcement of her passing, tributes have continued to pour in from fans, colleagues, and stakeholders in the entertainment industry, who described her as a gifted actress whose performances left lasting impressions on Nigerian audiences.
