POWA Brings Hope to IDP Children in Edo State as CP Agbonika Commends Humanitarian Outreach

The Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA), Edo State Chapter, has extended its humanitarian outreach to children at the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp in Uhogua, Edo State, as part of activities marking the 2026 Children’s Day celebration.

The outreach, held on May 30, 2026, featured the distribution of food items, clothing, educational materials, and other essential relief supplies aimed at easing the hardship of displaced families and restoring hope among the children.

Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA), led by its Chairperson, Mrs. Helen Ada Agbonika, organized recreational and interactive sessions for the children, including games designed to boost their morale, confidence, and sense of belonging.

The visit took place at the Uhogua IDP Camp, where children affected by displacement were engaged in activities intended to mark Children’s Day in a supportive and emotionally uplifting environment.

Commending the initiative, the Commissioner of Police, Edo State Command, CP Monday Agbonika, described the outreach as a reflection of the Nigeria Police Force’s community-oriented values and POWA’s consistent commitment to humanitarian service.

Monday Agbonika emphasized that children remain the future of society and deserve continuous care, protection, and encouragement regardless of their circumstances.

He praised POWA for complementing the Command’s efforts through sustained social impact programmes that directly touch vulnerable groups.

Also speaking, Helen Ada Agbonika encouraged the children to remain hopeful, pursue education, and stay focused on building a better future despite present challenges.

The event ended on a celebratory note, with the children expressing appreciation for the kindness shown to them and the memorable Children’s Day experience.
