Presidential Adviser Meets NISO Leadership, Pushes for Stronger Grid Stability
The Special Adviser to the President on Power, Mr. Lanre Babalola, has underscored the need for improved operational efficiency and stronger grid management as part of efforts to enhance electricity supply across the country.
Babalola made the call during a visit to the Corporate Headquarters of the Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) in Abuja, where he held strategic discussions with the organisation’s management led by its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Abdu Bello Mohammed.
The meeting focused on the operations of the national grid, ongoing reforms in the power sector and the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting NISO in the effective discharge of its responsibilities.
According to a statement from NISO, discussions centred on measures to strengthen grid reliability, improve operational efficiency, enhance transparency and ensure greater stability within the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI).
Babalola stressed the importance of prudent resource management, operational discipline and sustained efforts to reduce system disturbances on the national grid.
He noted that NISO occupies a strategic position in the country’s electricity value chain and remains critical to the government’s objective of building a more stable, resilient and efficient power sector.
The presidential adviser also reiterated the Federal Government’s support for reforms aimed at improving electricity transmission and grid performance nationwide.
Responding, Engr. Mohammed assured the visiting delegation of NISO’s commitment to advancing operational excellence and strengthening the reliability of the national grid.
He pledged the organisation’s continued collaboration with relevant stakeholders to achieve the shared goal of delivering a more robust, sustainable and efficient electricity supply system for Nigerians.
The visit comes amid ongoing efforts by the Federal Government to reform the power sector and address persistent challenges affecting electricity generation, transmission and distribution across the country.
